Privacy policy

Updated October 4, 2026

In short: your recordings never leave your computer. The site uses Microsoft Clarity to see how the page is used, and Google AdSense to show ads.

Your recordings stay on your computer

RecordOnWeb records sound and your screen inside your browser. Recordings are saved straight to your computer, in your Downloads folder or a folder you choose. They are never uploaded to us or anyone else.

While you record, the app keeps a backup in your browser’s storage, so you can recover the recording if the page closes. The backup is deleted when you save or discard the recording. Your settings, like the mic you chose, are also stored only in your browser.

Usage analytics (Microsoft Clarity)

We use Microsoft Clarity to see how the page is used, such as clicks, scrolling, and which options people pick, so we can make the app easier to use. Clarity collects information about your device and browser, your approximate location based on your IP address, and how you interact with the page.

File names, folder names, and device names are hidden from Clarity, and Clarity is set not to use cookies. Microsoft handles this data under the Microsoft Privacy Statement.

Ads (Google AdSense)

We use Google AdSense to show ads, which keeps RecordOnWeb free.

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
• Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
• You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the UK, or Switzerland, you are asked for consent before ads use cookies or personal data.

Hosting

The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes technical data such as your IP address to deliver and protect the site.

Children

RecordOnWeb is not directed to children under 13.
