FAQ
How do I record my computer’s audio without installing anything?
Choose Sound, then Computer sound, and press Record. Chrome asks what to share: click any screen, keep “Also share system audio” on, and click Share. Only the sound is saved.
How do I screen record with sound?
Choose Screen, pick Entire screen, One window, or Browser tab, and set Sound to Computer sound, Mic, or Both. Press Record, pick what to share, and click Share.
Do I need BlackHole, Stereo Mix, or VB-Cable?
No. The browser captures your computer’s sound directly, so you can keep using your usual speakers or headphones.
Is it free? Are my recordings uploaded?
It’s free. Everything runs in your browser, and recordings are saved straight to your computer. Nothing is uploaded.
Which browsers and systems work?
Chrome or Edge on Windows, macOS, ChromeOS, and Linux. On a Mac, recording computer sound needs macOS 14.2 or later. On Linux, computer sound may not be available, but tab sound works. Safari and Firefox can’t record computer sound.
What file formats do I get?
Sound is saved as M4A (AAC) and screen recordings as MP4 (H.264 and AAC), which play in most apps. If your browser can’t make MP4, you get WebM.
Can I trim or crop a recording?
Yes. When you stop, a trim window opens. Drag the orange handles to cut the start or end, or use Crop to keep part of the screen. Hold a handle still to zoom in for precise cuts.
Why does Chrome ask to share my screen when I only want audio?
Browsers only allow computer sound through screen sharing, for your privacy. In Sound mode, the picture is ignored and only the sound is saved.
